Tiffin, Ohio, the home of Heidelberg College, is an historic town of
about 20,000 and is the seat of government for Seneca County. Tiffin is the center of a prosperous agricultural and business area. Four metropolitan areas are within easy driving distance -- Toledo, 50 miles; Columbus, 86 miles; Cleveland, 92 miles; and Detroit, 103 miles. A system of good highways serves Tiffin, which lies just 20 miles south of the Ohio Turnpike and 25 miles east of Interstate 75. Since the 1880s, Tiffin and other nearby communities have shared a heritage of fine glass production and collectibles. Examples of Tiffin glass and other historic local memoribilia can be viewed at the Seneca County Museum. The Tiffin Glass Collectors Club holds a show and sale in June each year, and the Tiffin-Seneca Heritage Festival ranks among Ohio's best. For the outdoor enthusiast, the State Scenic Sandusky River offers beautiful scenery and excellent sport fishing. The river is also the location for many bald eagle nesting sites. Nearby state nature preserves such as Springville Marsh and Collier Woods provide the opportunity for bird-watching and hiking. |
